I think, sometimes, our clients are surprised that we ask them how they *feel* about their marketing, or even the plan we developed for them.

But it’s always where we start, before we even ask them what they *think* about it.

**Because marketing is a** [**performance that takes daily practice**](https://kelfordinc.com/practice-before-you-perform-kelford-labs-daily/)**, and one that requires deep, intrinsic motivation to stick with.**

So if you *hate it*, that’s bad news. And if you don’t *feel good* about the plan we want you to implement, you probably won’t. At least not as well, or as actively, as it needs to be.

Later today, for instance, we’re presenting two strategies to two different clients and, while I feel *great* about the strategies themselves, I honestly don’t know how they’ll go over.

Maybe both clients love everything and it goes over as smoothly as it possibly can.

**But, more likely, there’s at least *something* they don’t feel great about.**

Something that feels too constraining, too difficult, or too different from what they’ve tried before.

To some extent, we may just need to coach them through it.

But it’s just as likely that we’ll need to make real, structural changes to better align the strategy to their existing motivations, their existing abilities and interests.

**Not because that’s *better*, but because that’s *necessary* to** [**build momentum**](https://kelfordinc.com/you-need-momentum-before-direction-kelford-labs-daily/)**.**

We can perfect and polish later, for now we need buy-in and excitement.

If that takes some adjusting, so be it. In fact, I hope so.

Because when a client meaningfully influences a plan or strategy based on their own situation and preferences, they become a bigger *part of it*. And they become more likely to take it and run with it.

**Because it wasn’t just *for* them, it *involved* them.**

So take this thought and run with it today:

**What could you change about your marketing to *feel better* about it, so you can *do better* with it?**
