In Viktor Frankl’s beautiful *Yes to Life*, he writes:

> “Let us not forget that each individual person is imperfect, but each is imperfect in a different way, each ‘in his own way.’ And as imperfect as he is, he is uniquely imperfect. So, expressed in a positive way, he becomes somehow irreplaceable, unable to be represented by anyone else, unexchangeable.”

**Whenever I think about something I *don’t like*, I often realize that those imperfections are exactly what its fans *do like* about it.**

I mean, I don’t care for the Avatar films, for instance. I find them boring, and I find their plots and characters overly predictable. But if you made them *more* interesting to me (by making them more impenetrable, obscure, or artsy), you’d be directly *undoing* what makes them so popular.

Think about any art form, medium, or message: The things that *attract* also *detract*. The things that make them *unique* to some simultaneously make them *unsuitable* to others.

Now, this isn’t to say we shouldn’t seek to improve ourselves or our businesses!

**This is merely a reminder that what makes you imperfect or unideal for one person or one type of buyer makes you unexchangeable and irreplaceable for another.**

The trick is identifying [*that buyer*](https://kelfordinc.com/ideal-not-imaginary-kelford-labs-daily/) and focusing your efforts on them.

Instead of trying to be perfect for *everyone*, and in doing so, making ourselves replaceable by *anyone*.
