# Is AI worth the cost? — Kelford Labs Daily

You know the signs:

- “It’s not x. It’s y.”
- “And honestly?”
- “The real kicker:”

And so many more. 

Those cliches, those stock expressions AI writing relies on to sound smart but which make it, and the person posting it, sound lazy and uninspired.

I’m not saying *all* AI writing sounds like this. Just the quick, expedient outputs that people on LinkedIn seem to think is sufficient to get some reach and a few idle Likes.

**AI might *feel* or sound cheap to use, but it extracts a real price you might be missing:**

It tells your prospects you don’t care about your marketing.

Which is a problem because, well, marketing is all about demonstrating *value*.

So when we show our prospects that *we don’t value our marketing*, it tells them we don’t value *them*.

We think they won’t notice we expended no effort, no time, no resources to acquire their notice and attention.

**But if they *do* notice, it’s a signal that the rest of our business might be similarly expedient, similarly disrespectful of their time.**

AI has many uses, many of them that might actually save money or time.

But when it comes to demonstrating our value, trying to save time is a mistake in the first place.

**Because why would we want to spend *less time* demonstrating what we do best?**
