“Just start writing.”
That’s the advice.
That’s the advice I’m giving and the advice I’m getting.
See, I didn’t know what to write for today’s newsletter. I rarely struggle for ideas, but I think the combination of heat waves, travel preparation, and the generalized anxiety about, you know, <gestures broadly>, kept the inspiration at bay.
So I went to my database of quotes, where I’ve been collecting notes and references from every book I’ve read for more than a decade now, trying to get some advice on how to get started.
Because, yes, sometimes I struggle with my marketing content, too.
But do you know what the quotes said?
In these words or similar, “Just start writing.”
Once you get going, you can correct, you can steer. But without momentum, you can’t change course. You can’t improve.
You can’t edit.
And editing’s what counts. So having something to edit is all that matters, when starting.
So that’s the advice today, for you and for me:
Just start writing.
And, hey, look at that. It works.
