As I’ve written about before, Roger Ebert once described Steven Spielberg’s approach to talking about his movies as being “engaged in the process of understanding how his new movie came to be.”
Which means we could say that promotion of our work, or the content about it, comes from our curiosity.
It requires an inward-turned eye that asks, “How did we come to know how to do this?”
Or, “How did we learn and develop our process?”
Or, “What do we know now we didn’t know before?”
Pointed at us and our work, these questions inform content that will aid our prospects in getting comfortable enough to get one step closer to our business.
The idea is that instead of just talking about our work, or our industry, we show off how we developed our process, our perspective, our product itself.
Because that’s what helps prospects get closer:
Satisfying their curiosity by using our own.
