Why does thinking about your marketing make you feel guilty?
I mean, it does, right? At least sometimes?
I bet that, occasionally, you feel that way because of marketing you did. An opportunity you whiffed on or a mistake you made.
But I also bet that, most of the time, you feel that way because of marketing you didn’t do, or aren’t doing.
You have this sensation that you should be doing something, but what? And where?
That’s because marketing rarely fails. It usually just... stops.
My job, what I do all day every day, is keep my clients’ marketing going. Not because just anything is good enough, but because something is a prerequisite for something better.
To improve, we must practice.
To acquire clients and customers, we must do marketing regularly. Consistently. And we must do it well.
But we can’t skip to the end, we can’t go from nothing to everything. From doing no marketing to doing perfect marketing.
We cannot optimize something that isn’t yet working at all. Attempting to is just fancy procrastination.
Because, first, we must practice.
We must put ourselves out there and make progress.
Then, we perfect the performance.
