How many marketing messages does your prospect see or hear every single day?
Hundreds, right? Maybe more?
And yet we still imagine that our one ad, our one post, or our one newsletter is going to be the one that they notice and act on.
That’s just a touch hubristic, though, isn’t it?
Can we say honestly that our message is the most creative, most interesting, most eye- or ear-catching thing they’ll be met with that day?
Can we say for certain that our offering, our service, our product, our business is the next most important thing in their life or work, right now?
That’s a bit of a stretch, right? Right.
But the point is not despair or to give up, it’s to remember that we’ve got to work at our marketing over time, long enough for it to work, and work on, our prospects.
So that means what our marketing needs is not one big, bright idea. Not one splashy ad or campaign.
But consistency, sustainability, and improvability.
That’s what allows us to “break through the noise,” as marketers are so fond of saying. Not by screaming louder, but by being there for our prospects when they need us, by already being where they go when they do.
There’s very little one can do today to get a lead tomorrow. But there’s so much that can be done this week to get noticed next month.
So start today, and stick with it.
